What does "GOLD PLATED" mean?
How is "Gold Plated" jewelry made?
Generally, plating is the process through which a piece of jewelry made from a certain metal or alloy then is covered and coated with a layer of another metal. For example, a silver chain with a layer of gold on top would be sold as "gold plated".
Is "Gold Plated" jewelry coated with real gold?
If the plating was done with real gold then the correct description used should be "Gold Dipped" instead of "Gold Plated". Gold dipped products will look almost as good as solid gold products because it was coated with real gold and the cost of the gold dipped products are obviously much higher than gold plated products.
